This week I was very excited to receive a special package in the mail, from the production crew at the BBC!
I haven’t seen the whole series yet, but what I have seen of it is absolutely amazing, so I can’t wait to binge watch it at some point in the future. I think the ‘jungles’ episode is brilliant, but I might be biased, as it does feature my PhD study genus, Draco.
Back in 2015 I had the opportunity to accompany the BBC crew to Borneo to catch the lizards for them and help out with the shoot. It was an excellent and eye-opening experience. So much work goes into such a short clip. I was super impressed with the respect the whole crew showed for the lizards and the natural environment. The final product looks great – watch the Draco clip below:
Special thanks to my PhD co-supervisor Devi Stuart-Fox for encouraging me to take this opportunity, despite the inevitable time-crunch that is the PhD write-up. I’m so glad I took part.
